MD, FACC
Board-certified cardiologist practicing preventive cardiology, integrated. I care for patients in northern New Jersey and write on nutrition, sleep, and the daily work of keeping a heart healthy.
About
I trained in biological sciences at Rutgers in New Brunswick, earned my MD at St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, and completed internal medicine training at New Jersey Medical School followed by a cardiovascular fellowship. From 2015 to 2017 I trained at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.
I started my career caring for the sickest cardiac patients — end-stage heart failure, advanced ischemic disease, the ones headed for bypasses, stents, and transplant workups. Over the years, as I took care of more of these patients, I found myself walking the path backward. Backward toward earlier disease. Backward toward risk factors. Backward, eventually, to the years and decisions that precede any diagnosis at all.
Today my practice is entirely outpatient preventive cardiology. I focus on the overlap between nutrition, sleep, movement, inflammation, and cardiovascular risk — the daily work of keeping heart disease from becoming heart failure.
Most cardiovascular disease is preventable. Most of what I say to a patient in a fifteen-minute visit is worth saying more slowly, with citations, over time. That is what my writing is for. I publish two free newsletters and a series of books through Cordate Press, an imprint I founded to bring evidence-led, patient-facing cardiology into print. This site is where those threads meet.

Practice
I see patients through Heart & Vascular Associates in northern New Jersey.
A private cardiology practice affiliated with Saint Joseph's Health. I care for adults across the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, with an emphasis on prevention and an integrated approach that draws on nutrition, sleep, movement, and inflammation. I work alongside interventional cardiologists who perform stents, TAVR, and mitral clips, and a team of cardiothoracic surgeons for open-heart procedures when they are needed.
